Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko to Lead Russia's Bid Team

Minister of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy, Vitaly Mutko, who also is the President of the Russian Football Union (RFU), will be leading Russia's bid team in their quest to win the right to host the FIFA World Cup™ in either 2018 or 2022.

Minister Mutko said: "I have the honor but also the demanding duty to lead the bid team".

"In the next 14 months we will confidently go our way towards achieving the milestones of the FIFA Bidding Process, in particular the submission of the state-of-the-art set of bid documentation in May 2014 and the organization of the visit of the FIFA inspection team in the summer of 2010 following the World Cup in South Africa", Mutko added.

He will be supported by a team of management staff hailing from the RFU. The executive team will be headed by RFU CEO, Alexey Sorokin and include Alexander Djordjadze, Director of Bid Planning and Operations, Ekaterina Fedyshina, International Relations Director and Communications Manager, Julia Cooper.
